In 1975, the city of Oak Park constructed a time capsule which was to be opened 100 years after it was sealed. I was there the day the items were put into the box which sits inside the monument, though I can't remember what went inside.

I am fully planning on being there when they open this up again in 2075. I know I will be 109, but I figure this gives me a reason to stick around...

City Of Oak Park

Bicentennial Commission

Time Capsule

In this time capsule are items representative of the life style in the city of Oak Park in the year 1975.

This time capsule is to be opened on November 16th, 2075.

It is the sincere hope of the city council and the bicentennial commission that the contents of this time capsule will provide some insight into the past by our citizens of 2075 and that the culture of this community will be preserved and carried forward...

UPDATE: Mayor Jerry Naftaly is trying to find out what is inside this thing! Here is what he remembers so far:
Yes, I have the list, somewhere --- I'm looking. Things like menus, The Oak Park News, bagels and jeans, I think. I was on the bicentennial commission when we did it. I'll find it...Best regards, Jerry
