Set Shots 1995-2000
Various pics from my former life frontin' as a sound guy on films and TV shows.

Shots from a doc on Area 51. The last shot is of the infamous "black mailbox." Not really sure why they call it that either. But if you drive down the road it is on, serious-looking men with sunglasses driving dark blue Suburbans will roll up and strongly encourage you to turn around and go home.

The gang from "Midnight Mambo." The first picture is of the crew and the van that I drove out to Arizona for the shoot. The sign on the van was part of an unsuccessful attempt to pretend we were with a church group so that we could get discounts on film locations. The last two shots are of the picture car broken down on the side of the 10 freeway right before Chiraco Summit at the Arizona border. The director had the bright idea of filling up an '82 Mercury Marquis he bought for 1100 bucks out of the Recycler the week before with heavy camera gear and crew members, and driving it out to Phoenix during the hottest part of the year. Of course, the nice, new, air-conditioned Plymouth Caravan that was supposed to be following us had flown by hours before. One of the longest and most unpleasant days of my life.

Hanging out with the freaks on the set of a no-budget horror-fest called "Sideshow."

Anybody remember the TV show Good vs. Evil? Me neither. In any case, here are a couple pictures from the set of that classic. They were taken at the original location of the "Bat Cave" in Griffith Park. These pictures were shot on a turn-of-the-century Kodak Brownie box camera for no special reason.

The former women's prision that served as the set for "Running Time."

A couple more pics from the movie "Big Packages." No, it was not a porn movie. In the first picture, I had just convinced the director that I really needed to record the authentic sounds of the Porsche Targa picture car by taking it out for a joyride around the block. In the last picture, my buddy Kevin Maloney happily moves my chair from place to place as I chat up the chicks no doubt!
