I HEAR YOU'VE BEEN TO COLLEGE...

In 1985, I moved off the Michigan State University campus and into a pink and brown house with five other fellas. Unfortunately, none of us were photo buffs, and for years after I only had about a half-dozen pictures from that time. Fortunately, I remembered that Dave Desmet, a friend of ours, had shot a couple rolls of 35 at our house for a photography class. I tracked Dave down a couple years back, and to my great delight, found that he had stored those negatives and was still able to make me some new prints for the site.

I am still in touch with most of the people in these pictures, and have even been back to 118 Beech St. a few times since college. Once, nobody was home, so I just went inside and walked around. To my amazement, the ridiculous fish we found in the basement and hung in the living room with one single nail was still up ten years later.

Sadly, my old girlfriend Dawn Rumford, who you'll see in a couple of these pictures, died in a car wreck in Dearborn, MI on April 7th, 1991.

I remember I loved that shirt, too!

That thing on the desk was called a typewriter. Nice shorts I'm wearin'!

Fortunately, it only looked like this for about a week.

Love this one. Rich Karp looking out his window. He had the best room in the house.

Very fond of this one, for obvious reasons.

The guy who took these pictures looks like this:

...and his dorm room at Phillips Hall looked just like this on Feb. 26, 1985!

If you dug that, you may also dig these...
