INTERSTATE 5

At some point near the end of the last century, I worked on an independent film called "Interstate 5." It was about a couple breaking up on a long drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco. All I remember were a lot of long nights running around Chinatown at four a.m., and a lot of people yelling at each other.

The one good thing about this film was that I got to spend two weeks out in San Francisco in a really beautiful old house above Haight-Ashbury. It was tons of fun hanging out in the neighborhood and having every single kid on the street offering to sell me something called "greenbud."

I was way into Polaroids back then, and shot these on 3000 ASA black & white with a late-'60s model camera. I think they came out really well, which is more than I can say for the film, which never came out at all!

This is where we stayed. I got to sleep in the attic with three other guys.
It really was an amazing house, but the walk up the hill to it from The Haight
could kill ya!

The view from the attic. Not too shabby, as they say...

A couple more shots of the neighborhood. Kind of looks like Mr. Rodgers
could be living down the street.

Punk with a pumpkin.

My sound rig somewhere along the side of the 5 freeway.
Hard to tell that it was about 180 degrees when this was taken!

Big giant skeleton guy strolling down the boulevard.

A lovely cat jumped right out of the frame just before
I hit the shutter.

My buddy Brandon Lovejoy and another dude sitting at
one of the many crepe joints no doubt.

Thought Vegas was Sin City!

The remaining crew members at the end of the shoot.
No idea who most of these people are, but I'm sure they were nice.
