Meet (the artist formerly known as) Saabie Disner!

...don't I wish!

Now that I am all grown up, I figured it was time to buy a respectable ride. So tomorrow I am taking delivery of a 1989 Saab 900 16 valve coupe. Continuing the tradition of only buying cars for sale in my immediate neighborhood, I am excited to get to know my 173,000 mile, fifteen-hundred dollar Sweedish sports coupe. Stay tuned for pics and stories. Send all pity donations directly to my PayPal account.

Bad news for Saabie fans. Saabie was totalled today when a speeding driver (CA plate 3VAA199) came down my street and hit a woman who plowed into my poor car. I was still at work at the time. Normally, I would have taken the Saab to work, but it was overheating and needed a ten-dollar electric fan relay that I was going to pick up the next day. Funny how life is sometimes.

Doesn't look like $2800 worth of damage to me...

OK...Maybe it does.

Unfortunately, since Saab parts are so expensive, almost any accident can total them out, especially when they get to be ten-plus years old with a bunch of miles on them. But it is totally frustrating, because this was a really great, relatively trouble-free ride with a lot of life in it still. I couldn't have gotten luckier with this car really, considering I found it for sale just down the street exactly one year ago. Well, I guess my luck just ran out.

Checking out another Saab tomorrow. This one is an '88 red 900S coupe. Sounds promising. I am totally hooked on these cars and can't see driving anything else in my current situation (broke). Stay tuned for juicy details.

Picking up the 900S tomorrow. Pictures to follow in a week or so.

Say hello to SaabieFred. Purchased with the settlement I just received from AAA. Insurance paid me twice what I paid for the last car, essentially buying me both cars! Running real well so far with 183K on the clock. A couple things to sort out, like the heater and the fact that it won't stay in third gear, but seems pretty solid overall.

Well that didn't last long! Just never warmed up to the red one, although it really ran great and was a lot of fun to toss around. Driving one of these now...

Whoops! This didn't last too long either! See the homepage for details on my new ride...
